I have Logitech QuickCam Express webcam.
Device manager says for this camera:
USB\VID_046D&PID_0928&REV_0000
USB\VID_046D&PID_0928
It installs itself automatically for Windows XP, but for Windoes 7 it tries to install and then fails. Official Logitech "support" says that camera is not supported in Windows 7.
Actually it works (at least form me) with drivers form Logitech.
This is what I did (I have 32 bit Windows 7):
1) Go to http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/webcams
2) Select QuickCam® Express M/N: V-UAP41 (do not select correct product, QuickCam® Express M/N: V-UH9, V-UAP9, because that one does not have drivers for Windows 7)
3) Download driver, it is called lws110.exe
4) Unpack it (for example 7-zip does the job (open menu in Windows Explorer for lws110.exe, select "Extract to folder..."))
5) Open Device Manager (for example from Computer, open menu, select Manage)
6) Select camera with yellow exclamation label, select "Update Driver Software..."
7) Select "Browse my computer for driver software"
8) Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
9) Select "Have Disk..."
10) Select "Browse..."
11) Browse to extracted folder: lws110\Drivers\x32\ELCH\
12) Press "Open"
13) Select "Logitech QuickCam Express/Go"
14) Press "Next"
15) Press "Yes" for "Update Driver Warning" dialog
16) Congratulations, driver is now installed :). Press "Close", press for example "Cancel" for software update.
It also works under windows8.

I have tried both 64 Bit and 32 bit downloads and both displays the same massage after selecting the driver file from have disk option.
Awaiting for the reply.

ReplyDeleteThanks man.
I have windows 7 - 32 bit. I have extracted the mentioned folder from the lws110.exe. However, when I get to the step where I am to select the folder where the driver is housed, I keep getting the following message from the Device Manager, "Windows was unable to install your Camera. Windows could not find driver software for you device." Please help!
ReplyDeleteinstall the app lws110.exe. When it prompts you to connect cam to p.c. during installation, 'skip' that. After install, go to device manager. Right click on your cam. Choose 'update driver' then choose 'browse my computer for driver software'. Now choose 'let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer.' Now scroll down to 'imaging devices' In the window that pops up, in the left pane, scroll down to logitech. In the right pane, select 'quickcam chat' as the driver. It works with my old logitech quickcam model v-uap9 on windows 7. Hope this helps. - Sean
DeleteThis actually works with windows 10 too, if you chose the 64 bit version of the driver.
DeleteIt installed successfully, but how do you use it after the driver have been installed?
ReplyDeleteAfter selecting the driver file it shows the following massage:
ReplyDelete"The Folder you specified doesn't contain a compatible software driver for your device. If the folder contains a driver, make sure it is designed to work with windows for x64-based system."

ReplyDeleteReally? I not for me :(
DeleteI tried to use it on skype. It detected it and everything, but it just keeps loading and loading the image and nothing happens.
ReplyDeleteThanks! This method works more or less the same way for Win7 64bit but you need the 64bit drivers in Lws110_x64.exe which I found on www.driverscloud.com
ReplyDeleteno , not for win 10 64 bit , not for me
ReplyDeleteWorking with Win 10 64bit!!
ReplyDeleteFirst install lws110_x64.exe enabling Windows 7 compatibility mode.
Then follow the instructions given by Sean (in 2015)
"When it prompts you to connect cam to p.c. during installation, 'skip' that.
After install, go to device manager. Right click on your cam.
Choose 'update driver' then choose 'browse my computer for driver software'.
Now choose 'let me pick from a list of drivers on my computer.'

In the right pane, select 'quickcam chat' as the driver.
It works with my old logitech quickcam model v-uap9 on windows 7. Hope this helps. - Sean"
Hm, tried all of this and can't get it to work. I've tried the other compatibility modes but nothing. I wonder where I'm going wrong.
